Life without the words Corona and measures has been almost unimaginable since March 2020. Everyone in the world is confronted with it. In June 2020, the board members therefore decided to give family members who were directly affected financially by the measures the opportunity to apply for financial support. Good use was made of this opportunity. The board members read distressing stories from family members who were having a very hard time. It was therefore a rewarding task to be able to offer a helping hand to these family members, who found themselves in exceptional situations. The board received 51 applications, all of which were granted in whole or in part.
In January and June 2021, fewer applications for support were received than in June 2020. The board therefore hopes that these family members have somewhat overcome their financial difficulties caused by the corona measures. The board also hopes, probably just like you, that all measures will be lifted so that normal life can get going again and calm returns to our society. Until then, keep courage, keep faith and know where you can turn when you need it.
Corona and young people/students
Students will have experienced that the Board has become stricter regarding the granting of a study grant. The rules have been tightened for a while now: one of the conditions is that a student side job creates the necessary financial room to get by as well as possible.
In “corona time” at the end of 2020, the student job dried up. The hospitality sector was at a standstill, shops were largely closed, and the opportunities to earn a little extra disappeared. The Board therefore decided to pay a one-off Corona extra to our young Stoop descendants. About 80 young people received the Corona extra after applying.
The Corona extra was intended to give our young people a boost in the difficult time in which they too now find themselves. It also increases awareness of the Stoop Fund, and we hope to see these young people again at the Meeting and the Stoop Celebration in 2023. The young people who turn 18 this year will, of course, receive their one-off payment of €100.
